Hawkesdale Macarthur records big win

A BIG win over Lismore Derrinallum last Saturday has rebooted Hawkesdale Macarthur's season.

In what was a must-win game, the Eagles hit top form to win by 50 points to remain within sight of the top five.

They are now two games away from fifth spot but should record their third win of the season when they take on the winless Woorndoo Mortlake this Saturday.

The Eagles started the game against Lismore Derrinallum with a 13-point quarter-time lead and extended that by one point at the main break. With the game still tight, the Eagles used the third quarter to make a statement, slamming on six goals to none for the quarter to open up a 52-point lead. Three goals each from both teams in the last quarter had the Eagles celebrating a good win against a team ranked one spot ahead of them on the ladder.

Joel Dwyer was in scintillating form for the Eagles with four goals from his boot a highlight of his day. Youngster Lachlan Glare and veteran Brad Sholl both contributed three goals each, while Josh and Lachie Reichman were again outstanding players.

The reserves team remain anchored on one win after it went down by 64 points.

Scott Whyte kicked two goals, while Simon Poynton and Darren Keane were the Eagles' best players.

After its first loss the week before, the under 16s team was back on the winners' list in a big way with a 90-point win.

Lachlan Glare led the goal scorers with six, while Jayden Anderton kicked three for the day.
